KEITH E. GILMER MD, FACR
Keith E. Gilmer MD, is the Medical Director of Gilmer Rheumatology; a Rheumatology Consulting firm focused on Medical Affairs and Machine Learning applications in Rheumatology.
Dr. Gilmer received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Gilmer is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. After fellowship he held several staff positions before opening a solo private rheumatology practice, Gilmer Rheumatology: a center for Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Connective Tissue Disease and Performing Arts Medicine.
Dr. Gilmer left practice and joined Centocor (currently, Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine) as an Associate Director in 2003 in the medical affairs department. In 2005, he moved to Tokyo where as a Director of Medical Affairs, he helped establish and lead the Centocor Medical Affairs office serving Asia Pacific; and for a period of time, he served as President and Representative Director of Nippon Centocor, KK. During his time in Japan, he was privileged to travel extensively in Asia speaking on the treatment of inflammatory arthritis and the use of Remicade (infliximab).
He returned to the Janssen offices in the US in 2012 as a Senior Director as the Immunology Global Medical Affairs Leader for Remicade (infliximab) and Simponi (golimumab). After 2 exciting years in the Global Medical Affairs role, he joined the Immunology Clinical Research & Development team. He led an Axial Spondyloarthritis clinical trial program and has authored or co-authored multiple published abstracts and papers. After leaving Johnson and Johnson, he went on to work at the U.S. Food & Drug Administration as a Medical Officer in the Division or Rheumatology and Transplant Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Gilmer is interested in applying his Python programming skills and interest in Machine Learning to various aspects of patient care and clinical trial conduct in Rheumatology.
